About Sara Holmes
I’m a painter based in Manchester, working with acrylics on paper. I paint flowers, still lifes and abstract landscapes inspired by nature and the places around me.
How I paint
I use a variety of brushes and tools, gradually building up layers of colour and texture before adding the final details.
I find inspiration in the colours, textures and shapes of the natural world, from the form of a flower to the colours and shapes of a landscape. I explore these elements most abstractly in my landscape paintings. Everyday things catch my attention too, such as sunlight on a vase of flowers or an unexpected combination of colours.
My happy place is being outdoors. My family and I enjoy hiking and spending time in the countryside and by the coast whenever we can. I take lots of photographs along the way, which I later use when developing my landscape paintings.
